Details
Vinyl plays with occasional light-crackles (play-graded). Cover has a few creases near edges; light-scuffing (front/back). Inner-sleeve is original (pictures/lyrics/credits). Spine is easy-to-read with mild-wear, sticker over spine correcting catalogue number. Shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners. Opening is crisp with signs of light use and divots. (Not a cut-out.)
Big Reward, by Susan Lynch, marked the former lead singer of the pioneering all-female punk band The Dishrags’ bold leap into sophisticated new wave and power-pop territory following the group’s 1979 breakup. Recorded with an all-star Vancouver studio band that included members of Payola$, DOA, and Pointed Sticks—though pressed in Terre Haute by Columbia Records—the album blended sharp guitar-driven hooks with Lynch’s unmistakable snarling-yet-melodic vocals and wry, biting lyrics about love, betrayal, and urban alienation, all captured at W.A.V.E.S. studios in Santa Barbara. Standout tracks such as the infectious Drive Me, the brooding fan-favorite Hurt By Love, and the sardonic title track My Big Reward—featuring Rickenbacker 12-string guitar—remain staples of Canadian underground radio and power-pop compilations decades later. A unique highlight is the playful "party vocals, handclaps, and 'hurts'" provided by Heather, alongside Lynch's own eclectic contributions on typewriter and additional keyboards. Though largely overlooked outside Western Canada at the time, Big Reward has since earned cult classic status among collectors and historians of the early-80s Canadian new wave scene.
