Details
Import from Germany. Vinyl plays nicely (play-graded). Cover has a few creases near edges; light-scuffing (front/back); discoloration on back. Inner-sleeve is poly-lined paper. Spine is easy-to-read with mild-wear. Minor shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners. Both edges partially unglued (can be re-glued), bottom-edge moreso. Opening is crisp with signs of light use and divots. (Not a cut-out.)
Nicolo Paganini: Concerto Per Violino (No. 6), by Salvatore Accardo, is a landmark recording that finally brought to light Paganini’s long-lost Violin Concerto No. 6 in E minor, a work believed destroyed or incomplete until its autograph manuscript resurfaced in 1972. Accardo not only gave the modern-era premiere but also edited the score himself and reconstructed missing orchestration sections, making this the first complete recording of the concerto. Notable for its extreme technical demands, the album showcases Accardo playing the solo part on the legendary 1727 “Hart” Stradivari violin once owned by Paganini himself. The performance, accompanied by the London Philharmonic Orchestra under Charles Dutoit, is widely praised for its fiery virtuosity and dramatic intensity, especially in the dazzling final Rondo. Among classical violin recordings, it remains a revered reference and a favorite of Paganini enthusiasts decades after its release.
