Details
The necklace is made of glass seed beads, measures approximately 17 1/2 inches, and slips over the user's head; there is no clasp.
The Naapok bead project in Ketumbeine, North Maasailand, Tanzania, provides 55 Maasai women with a small, regular income by enabling them to make and sell their beadwork. Each piece is made by hand using locally sourced glass beads, wire, and recycled plastic. This long-held tradition of beading is helping alleviate extreme poverty caused by drought & land restrictions that affect the Maasai's traditional nomadic herding way of life.
